2024 is the 10th year of the Gary Kenny All Ireland U10 Festival of Football hosted by Celbridge GAA Club in Co. Kildare. The event will be held on Sat 7th Sept and plays host to thirty-two U10 GAA football teams from all four provinces of Ireland.
The event kicks off at 10am with an opening ceremony including a parade, pipers and Amhrán na Bhfiann. This is followed by the blitz of 32 teams including group phases and play-offs. We will see a fantastic display of football throughout the day. Finally, the day wraps up with a true celebration including entertainment for the families and presentations to the teams.
The event is titled in honour of the late Celbridge GAA clubman Gary Kenny. Gary was a coach of the Celbridge U10 Footballers in 2018, before he sadly passed away. Gary had a passion for sport and the GAA in particular, he loved spending his time coaching his group of players. No matter the weather he would have the team out on the pitch, teaching them skills and enjoying it as much as they were.
This unique event celebrates the promotion of football, team spirit, fair play, club pride, community spirt and Irish culture and has proven great success for many years now.
Each year the honour of organising the event is passed down to the next U10 coaching team with plenty of support from the club stalwarts and previous event organisers. The planning starts early as a lot of organisation is required and support from locals, volunteers, club members and the business community is vital to ensure the events success.
The goal of this event is to foster a sense of community within the GAA family and to help continue to develop the game at a grass roots level. The event will enable children to grow their love of GAA, to identify their sense of belonging to their team and club, and to improve their personal self-esteem.
The value of an event like this to the local community of Celbridge offers a unique platform for local businesses to thrive. It is an opportunity for us all to showcase the wonderful rich history and picturesque nature of our town.
Our ambition in Celbridge GAA is to continue to set and raise the bar in regard to the quality of event we provide for The Gary Kenny All Ireland U10 Festival of Football 2024. An event of this scale requires strong financial support to cover the costs of hosting so many teams and ensuring their needs are met on the day.
We would greatly appreciate your consideration in supporting this event
